Jo will carry out genealogy research tailored to your aims, whether you would like a full Scottish family history report, hand-bound as an heirloom book and fully detailing your ancestors’ lives in Scotland, or want a copy of a document to complete your records.

She can obtain copies of Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates, Old Parish Register Baptism, Marriage and Death records and Census Returns; Monumental Inscription and Burial records, Sasines records (transfer of land ownership); Kirk Session Minutes; records of Court Cases; Wills and Testaments; Tax records; information on Scottish Ministers; Trade and Business Records and much more.

Fees: Research time is charged at an hourly rate, plus document copying fees and postage costs.

While no family fits neatly into a "package", Jo will quote a price for your personal research project, detail which records will be searched and why, and give an estimate of a time scale for completion. Large projects can be split into smaller projects to be carried out over a period of weeks or months, which makes budgeting more manageable for the client.

Resolving your Brick Walls:
Jo’s experience and familiarity with records relating to family history in Scotland means that she knows where to look next for that snippet of information which might just help you over a hurdle with your genealogy.

Training Courses:
One-to-one training or assistance can be arranged on-site at New Register House in Edinburgh, and groups of up to four researchers are also welcome on one or two day courses which are tailored to your requirements and led by a professional genealogist. This is an enjoyable way to research your Scottish family tree, whilst having an expert on hand to guide and advise you.
